Newbie waving hi
Welcome, welcome, welcome. You'll find this to be a very interesting and supportive group to become friendly with. Like everyone says 'family' and 'wealth of knowledge', we are. I'm fairly new to surgery too. Jeane and I had surgery on the same day, 7-16-09 so we seem to be going thru the same stages at approximately the same time.
How cool that you and your daughter are going to go thru the journey together. Recovery for me was a breeze, thus, I over did things right in the beginning. Try very hard not to over-do, even if you're feeling great. Just walk walk walk. No cleaning.

Aloha and welcome to the OFF.....
You are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime! As to how much faster the youngsters heal, I must tell you that I have a friend who is 28 who had her surgery same time as me (63), and she had complications that lasted for months! She was in the hospital for 3 weeks! I luckily had NO COMPLICATIONS. So......youth isn't always faster healing that we older "kids."
Good luck to you!!

Hi and welcome ... but you didn't tell us what your name is.
This is a great group; you'll enjoy the board.
As to how fast you'll lose, everyone is different. It took me three years to get to my goal; I lost a lot fast, then slowed down, had to jump-start things to get under 200 and then again to my goal (which was 170). Some people lose fast, others slower. I don't think there's a good or bad way, just the way it happens. Losing a little more slowly gives your skin a chance to catch up, though.

Oh - I'm another Judi :) Guess I did forget that!
I talked to my daughter this morning - she's a week out - and she bought herself a piece of German chocolate cake, sigh. Luckily she dumped from it. She also tried a Mocha Ice Rage without sf syrup and dumped from that too. At least she'll learn!
I think I'd rather lose slowly than quickly - so the skin has a bit more time to rebound. I think that's what scares me the most - the rapidity of the weight loss!

Surgery: Dec 2009, lost 100 lbs
Hope you don't mind getting another "hello" from a newbie.... I also lurked for awhile before coming on-board. You're ahead of me in the schedule because I still have three months of nutrition classes to go through for Medicare. I have my exercise consult on Mon. and that should be interesting since I am on canes and in a wheelchair....LOL However, I did get a Body by Jake Cardio Cruiser to use so I hope that will help in the interview. Good luck to you Judi and I know you will enjoy all the help and support you will get from this board. Tina
